TOA BLADES

Enjoy an afternoon in this Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Holds a large number of species of plants and animals threatened with extinction, including the Cuban land snail, which shines brightly colored spirals and whose diameter is about two inches.

Nature

The natural attractions worth exploring include Alejandro National Park Humboldt, heart of the Biosphere Reserve Toa, as well as El Yunque, the Duaba and Maguana beaches, Rio Miel, the Rio Toa and the river valley Yumurí.

 

FINCA Duaba

Enjoy the aroma of cocoa while walking the trail around the farm where you will find a country-style restaurant.

RIO TOA

Observe birds along the third largest river in Cuba, which is in turn an important habitat for plants and birds.

CACTUS GARDEN

For cactus lovers: some 2,000 cacti thrive in this huge garden, located south of the semi arid along the Guantánamo-Baracoa highway region.

JUMP FINO

Make a stop at Salto Fino to see the highest waterfall in the Caribbean. With 305 meters high, it is the 20th highest water jump in the world, driven by a sudden drop in the Arroyo del Infierno.

THE ANVIL

No visit to Baracoa is complete without visiting the famous flat-topped mountain, covered with a rich vegetation. 575 meters above sea level rises and it is located between the banks of the Duaba and Toa rivers.

CAVE OF WATER

Bring your bathing suit: this cave is a cool freshwater lagoon. After a swim, you can climb up the slope to reach an archaeological trail that offers stunning sea views and many other caves.

Alejandro de Humboldt National Park

Declared Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO, this park is located in the heart of the Biosphere Reserve Frijol, 40 kilometers northwest of Baracoa. Known as the best preserved mountainous ecosystem in the Caribbean. According to UNESCO "one of the tropical island sites most biologically diverse in the world." It was named after German explorer Alexander von Humboldt, who first arrived in 1801.
